Thing 24 - Refresh Your Blog

I must honestly say I had good intentions to continue blogging and even redoing some of the "things" but once again time became a factor!!! Or lack of time would be more like it!!! Time to do more "things" is always an issue for all of us. I really like the look of my blog and after checking into some of the other templates, my final answer was to leave it as is for now anyway.
I do want to add a few items to my blog though. I am going to add some images and info about the SSC Library.

SSC Library is busy place!! The library is no longer a quiet place to be!!! With the technology age and computer labs in the library, classes are busy working on book research while another class is searching the internet!!! It is not uncommon to have from 3 to 4 different classes working in the library at the same time!!! For the most part, it works out well but there are days when it is way too busy and juggling schedules to fit everyone in that wants resource or computer time!!! Flexibility is the word of the day here!!! Everyone cooperates and is flexible and that makes a librarians world a lot easier too!!

Read Across America Day!
Each year on March 2nd, the SSC Elementary classes are transported from the elementary school over to the high school. Elementary students are paired up with the high school students from reading cubes and everyone reads a book. Some students have books read to them and other students prefer to just read to themselves while still enjoying being together.
Books are given as prizes that are donated by local businesses and the local Education Association. Dr. Seuss bookmarks are also handed out to each student reading a book as well as the teachers. This activity has been a great success at SSC thanks to everyone working together.

Just wanted to put an update of the SSC Read Across America activity that took place on March 2, 2009. Here are some photos that pretty much say it all!!!


Avatar while basically easy to use just doesn't interest me that much. I did use it and added it to my first "thing" but that is as much as I want to do with it for now. I am going to go with my original post from Avatar.

I explored some of the links under "Curious" but did not find any templates there that I wanted to use at this time. I might explore those again later when I am feeling a little braver about making a change. Even though I didn't use any it is nice to know the options that are available. The Mashable site was the most intriguing to me and maybe the most user friendly. I need user friendly when going outside the box!!!

I gave Avatar a try and prefer the photo that I scanned and put on my blog page. I will leave the Avatar creation posted for a while but I think I will eventually delete it.
