Thing 40 - Mashup the Web

Twitter had several mashups that looked interesting to me. Not sure I would use them but enjoyed exploring them anyway. Flickr mashups like Bookr was so fun but was time consuming and had to learn how to tag photos and make them public in Flickr in order to see them in Bookr. But I think the result was worth it!!!

Pandora.FM This is probably a good site for listening to music but I already have ITunes so I did not look into this site very long. Pretty much the same with Splice.

bkkeepr - Tracks your reading and bookmark on the go. I didn't spend a lot of time here. Guess keeping track of books students are reading would be an idea but for myself, I would rather spend the time reading than graphing my reading habits. I did embed the bkkeepr badge in my blog though, just because I could!!!

Lazy Library- I know several students who would like to use this mashup!!! Wouldn't want to read a book with more than 200 pages!!!

Lunchbox - This was a fun one too!! Not sure if I would use it a lot. If I was traveling to a bigger city it would most definitely come in handy. Sure would save time trying to find a place to eat without driving around not know where you were going.

Wheel of Food - Wow this is just like being in Vegas. Just enter a zip code and let the wheel spin! Kinda fun to check out all the good food places just by spinning the wheel!!

Visual Headlines - I guess I really wasn't impressed with the headlines in photos aspect. It took a long time for the photos to load etc. I would rather just go to CNN and find my info right there.

Flickr Memari - I had fun with this one too and learned some more things about Flickr!!! Reorganized some photos and was able to make a memory game. So hopefully this will work for those who want to give it a try!!! Have Fun! Memory Game link below:

Thing 31 - More Twitter!!

Twitter: Well I can tell you what stage I am in Twitter!!! I am in the overwhelmed stage!!! Is there such a stage? Well, I have spent a great deal of time on "More Twitter" and I still am not convinced this is for me. Although I did go back on Twitter and added my name to the Tweeter Directory for Librarians.

I followed most of the links that were suggested and it was all pretty much the same message. Either you were really into Twitter or you weren't. I hope others will get more into twitter than I did but for now I am twittered out!!!

I think my Twitter page does reflect my personality. Once again I am a private person so am not charging into adding a lot of "friends" right now. I am not sure yet this is the way to go for me in social networking.

Thing 27 - Twitter

Well, I did sign up and have an account on Twitter. I am not sure yet how much I will be using this means of communicating. It is good to know this is available and my profile is private for now so will see if this changes or not. In a public high school library, I am not sure this is something I will be utilizing. Students at our high school are not supposed to be texting, using facebook, youtube, or my space to mention just those I am aware of!!! So for me to use Twitter is probably not being consistant with our policy here. Once again, we will see what develops as time goes on. I did spend quite a bit of time learning about Twitter and hopefully I will remember those hints if I return to explore and make more use of this tool.

After thinking about Twitter and its uses I decided that if you have a bigger school system (several buildings) or say several public libraries, this tool would be a good way to communicate. As for using it in a small school with only one or two libraries, it would not be utilized effectly.
